Exercise of the Month - Rotator cuff stretch

This month we are taking a look at the shoulder for our exercise of the month.

We get many patients in the clinic with shoulder pain and stiffness and this is one of the muscles that we often find to be affected.

The muscle we are focusing on is called the Infraspinatus and is one of the rotator cuff muscles that stabalises and supports your shoulder joint

This stretch is very simple to do and can easily be achieved whatever your level of shoulder flexibility.

Sitting on a chair, rest your hands on the bottom of your abdomen with the side of your hand resting on your thighs - you then lean forward in the chair and let your elbows drop with the help of gravity. Your hands are tucked between your legs and your torso, you should feel the stretch in the back of your shoulder.
