Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ The Teenage Cancer Trust is the only  charity dedicated to making this happen.

Their vision is a future where young people’s lives don’t stop because they have cancer. They make sure the teenagers are treated as young people first, cancer patients second and everything they do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival.

After fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) for two years, Godalming chiropractor Tone Tellefsen Hughes partnered with Andy Hart, director of the Music Works in Milford. Their aim was to create a CD together with twelve young singers from the school to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

They formed a co-production panel with Haslemere Teenage Cancer Trust fundraisers Sally and Lucy Pullen in January 2013. Their main aspirations were to make the teenage artists on the CD ambassadors for the TCT and for them to take ownership of the project. This has meant it has very much been ‘children raising money for children’ hence Teen for Teens - they have sung the songs, done some amazing art work and are now committed to promoting the CD to raise as much money as possible.

There are  twelve teenage acts on the CD aged from 10-18 and it is easy to tell they have really thought about  the teenagers with cancer  - the emotion and empathy comes through every song. Lucy Pullen and several teenagers from the Teenage Cancer Trust wrote and produced a song about their recovery, and is launched for the first time on our CD.

Further to this the panel teamed up with Mi Elfverson and Kevin Self of True North Vision and video production company who spent a day with the teenagers filming several promotional  videos about their project.

‘This was one of the highlights of the year for me’, said Tone Tellefsen Hughes, ‘we saw the teenagers come together for the first time, hear each other’s songs and also sing as a group for the first time. It made us all feel very emotional. We hope this will inspire others to do similar projects for Teenage Cancer Trust as it is such a worthwhile charity and it makes you feel you are part of something good too.’

The CD will be on sale at the Music Works, Luck’s Yard, Record Corner in Godalming and also on iTunes.  This is a fantastic project and the CD would be a great Christmas present for your families and also for the Teenage Cancer Trust!
